To celebrate one year of offering affordable and comprehensive mental health services in California and Nevada, we’re launching this blog. We invite you to join us on our journey by subscribing so you don’t miss mental health news, tips, advice, and resources.
We’re a comprehensive mental health center and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with offices in California and Nevada. We work with individuals, couples, and adolescents to offer affordable mental health care.
Medens health is staffed by a diverse team of caring professionals. As we approach our first anniversary, we’ve decided that we want to use our combined expertise to offer useful information to educate, empower, and support our readers. Here you’ll find practical and nurturing advice, mental health support and resources, inspiration, and information around mental health.
At Medens Health, we know that mental health is just as important as physical health. If you had a broken arm or pneumonia, you wouldn’t hesitate to get treatment, would you? We believe that mental health should be treated the same way. Our hope is to join countless other organizations and mental health professionals in normalizing mental health care and providing resources for those in need.
Unfortunately, due to outdated stigmas around mental illness and the difficulty of accessing affordable mental health care, many Americans are left with untreated mental illnesses that severely diminish their quality of life.
Mental Health America's 2021 State of Mental Health in America Report lists some pretty dire findings:
The facts are clear. Mental illness is on the rise, yet mental health care is getting harder to access.
We’re optimists at Medens; together, there is no problem we can’t overcome. Although the most recent numbers are alarming, we’re committed to improving the state of mental health in the US. We increase access to care by accepting most insurance plans and offering affordable mental health care with sliding scale payments. We also offer virtual appointments and can treat anyone in the states of California and Nevada via teletherapy.
Combating the stigma around mental health starts with you. It starts with accepting that having a mental illness is not a personal failure. That it doesn’t make you or anyone else less worthy or less deserving of care. That mental health is just as important as physical health. That it’s ok to struggle, and it’s ok to ask for help. Most importantly, it starts with educating yourself about mental illness and mental health care.
As more people accept these truths and open up to the public about their struggles, depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges become normalized. This decreases the stigma around mental health and allows more people to open up and seek help.
As part of our dedication to educating the population and ending the stigma, we invite you to subscribe to this blog. Why? Because something you read on our blog could be useful to you or someone you love. One of our posts could equip you with the small bit of knowledge that you need to seek help, encourage someone else to seek help, give timely advice, or point someone in crisis to the exact resource they need at that moment. That’s how change starts: one thoughtful person, one decision, one caring gesture at a time.
Together, we can move mountains.
