We are excited to welcome Erin Wilkerson, LMFT, to the Medens Health team! Erin joins us full time as a highly skilled and compassionate provider with a deep commitment to making mental health care accessible to all. With her expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and her passion for supporting diverse populations, Erin is set to bring a new level of care to the deaf and hard of hearing community in California.
Erin brings valuable experience working in the Deaf Services Program at Five Acres, an adoption agency where she supported deaf children, children of deaf parents, and their families. Through individual therapy, family therapy, parental support, and advocacy, Erin played a vital role in enhancing the well-being of children placed by the agency.
Erin first fell in love with ASL through classes in high school, which led her to major in Deaf Studies. As a child, she was often left to her own devices when it came to processing difficult emotions and experiences. "In a black family, they didn't really talk about it. Emotions can sometimes be swept under the rug. I didn't know how to emotionally regulate my feelings at the time, and I didn't really like that feeling. So I wanted to be someone who could support others who are experiencing that." Now, she is thrilled to support BIPOC as well as the deaf and hard of hearing, providing the culturally competent mental health care that is all too often out of reach for them. She also enjoys working with high achievers, as well as clients from all walks of life.
Erin’s warm and engaging therapeutic style creates a safe and secure space for clients to explore their emotions, gain insight, and foster positive change. Her approach is client-centered, recognizing that each individual's therapeutic journey is unique. Drawing from her training in Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, she applies interventions tailored to unlock her clients' untapped potential and facilitate personal growth.
At Medens Health, we firmly believe in breaking down barriers to mental health care. With the addition of Erin to our team, we are thrilled to expand our reach and provide much-needed support to the deaf and hard of hearing community. Erin's expertise, passion, and dedication embody our mission to make high-quality, compassionate mental health care accessible to all.
